PM Modi Launches Swastha Nari Sashakt Parivar on 75th Birthday | Women & Child Health Initiative

PM Modi Launches “Swastha Nari Sashakt Parivar” on His 75th Birthday: A Step Towards Healthier Families

Prime minister Narendra Modi has used his 75 th birthday not only to receive wishes and awards, but also to present a big gift to the country. On this landmark day, he announced the Swastha Nari Sashakt Parivar programme, a massive health outreach programme to facilitate more women and children in India to access healthcare. When the launch took place, it is important to note that Modi was always interested in social welfare and has a vision of development which puts the needs of families the building blocks of society first.

Why Women and Children First?

Women and children constitute almost two-thirds of population in India. However, they have to endure the most acute side of health inequities. Mother mortality, malnutrition, anaemia, prenatal care, and absence of healthcare access in rural locations are some of the problems that continue to be a challenge. In the case of children, there are still millions of children affected by preventable diseases such as diarrhoea, pneumonia and lack of growth because of undernutrition.

By setting aside a programme specifically to women and children, the government simply recognizes the following simple fact: a healthy mother equals to a healthy child, and a healthy child means to a better future of the country.

The Promises of the Initiative.

Swastha Nari Sashakt Parivar program is not merely on medical check-ups - it is a comprehensive outreach program. The main characteristics that this scheme is supposed to have are:

Extensive health screening of women which includes anaemia, reproductive health and chronic disease tests.

Nutritional support plans to minimize nutritional malnutrition and stunting in children.

Sensitization to teach families on preventive healthcare, hygiene, and immunisation.

Mobile medical vans to take healthcare to rural and remote communities with small healthcare facilities.

Cooperation with states to combine the scheme with the already available health missions such as Ayushman Bharat.

This is what makes the programme unique, as it includes preventative, therapeutic and educational interventions. It does not focus on health in isolated settings and opts rather to be family-oriented, appreciating the fact that, the health of women is directly related to the development of children and the general health of their families.

Symbolism of the Launch

The day of launch, the 75 th birthday of Modi was not accidental. It shows his old-time political ideology according to which the personal achievements must be connected with the work in the service of people. Even in the olden days Modi has celebrated significant events through welfare programmes which has imprinted the message that governance was not about a single person celebrating but rather the whole society moving forward.

In the stage, the Prime Minister repeated his ideology that healthy women generate empowered families. He also highlighted the fact that investments on women health is not only a social good but it is also an economic necessity. Having a better female population is productive, educated and enhances the general standard of living in society.

Continuing on the Past Successes.

This is a new initiative basing on the earlier government endeavors:

Poshan Abhiyaan was introduced in 2018 and aimed to tackle malnutrition in children, expecting women and lactating mothers.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) was a financial support provided to pregnant mothers.

Ayushman Bharat Yojana provided health services to low-income earning families at affordable costs.

What makes it different with Swastha Nari Sashakt Parivar is its integrated scope. It does not emphasize the role of nutrition or the role of financial assistance or healthcare access and tries to incorporate all of these dimensions into a single umbrella programme.

Political and Social Impact

On the political front, this launch continues to paint a picture of a leader that is both welfare oriented and visionary. The initiative underscores his effort to be social with upliftment when he enters the historic age of 75. In the case of BJP, it empowers the story of Seva as Organisation (Service as Organisation), the governance as service to the people.

In the social aspect, when the initiative is effectively put down into practice, a ripple effect can be generated: child mortality decreases, women become able to make control over their health and increase awareness on the level of the grassroots level. Noteworthy, it can also promote the breaking of some social taboos that are related to the health and reproduction of women.

Challenges Ahead

Nevertheless, there are no initiatives that do not involve difficulties. The challenges that this scheme can encounter are:

Having sufficient funding between states.

Finding solutions to the lack of doctors and paramedics talent shortages in rural territories.

Breaking the cultural barrier in societies that do not put the health of women first.

Observing the real implementation process and not simply keeping the scheme as a policy document.

Its success will not only be based on the central planning but on local implementations- at state governments level, panchayats, and the health workers, and the NGOs.

A Vision for the Future

The Swastha Nari Sashakt Parivar program has the potential to change the Indian population in terms of health in case it keeps its promises. It goes to the very center of Indian social framework, focusing on families, in particular, mothers and children.

With the Prime Minister celebrating his birthday in the nation, it was no secret that Modi is interested in being remembered not necessarily because of his political achievements but because of his efforts to make a direct impact on the lives of the common people. This programme would be the difference between doing without preventable health problems and living with dignity and health and hope to millions of women and children.

This initiative in most aspects reflects the nature of the style of governance that Modi has adopted- the fusion of symbolism and substance, vision and implementation, and individual achievements and service to the people.
