NALCO Launches Initiative to Empower Rural Youth with Technical Skills| Recent news today 2025

 

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), one of the major state owned enterprises, has embarked on a CSR initiative that seeks to train rural youths in skills that are relevant to the industry. This project will offer the targeted youths who are residing in the vicinity of the NALCO industries in Odisha with specialized vocational training which will introduce long-term jobs and enhance local talent.

In rural areas, youths are not exposed to modern technical and vocational skills. This initiative aims at closing the employment disparity between the local employment seekers and the industry needs so that the region can have sustainable livelihoods and economic development.

On October 7, 2025, NALCO Foundation, the company under its CSR wing signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Tool Room and Training Centre (CTTC) in Bhubaneswar. Such cooperation is the start of an intensive skills development program.

40 youth will be initially benefited by the program.

Twenty respondents will be purposely sampled among the villages around Mines and Refinery complex of NALCO in Damanjodi.

The sample will consist of 20 people who will be chosen in the communities surrounding the Smelter and Power Complex in Angul.

A five months intensive residential training shall be provided to the participants in the CTTC campus, Bhubaneswar.

The curriculum is in line with the National Skills Qualification Framework so that the certifications are recognized nationally and enhance employment opportunities in most industries.

Young people will acquire contemporary technical expertise and experience.

Empowers the locals to support industrialization requirements.

Enhances the economic and social growth of the region in the long term.

At the signing ceremony, Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh the CMD of NALCO pointed out how strategic this initiative is as confidence and competence among the youth in the area will be built.
