The update on the Odisha MBBS Student Rape Case 2025, Survivor Wishes to Continue Studies, Father to meet CM.

An Odisha MBBS student who is reported to be raped outside a private medical college in Durgapur (West Bengal) on October 10 has been given a new twist. The survivor stated that she wanted to pursue her education at the same college after her release after the hospital and her father is to meet the Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on her further studies and safety.

The medical student, as per police sources, was beaten up in a forest-like area in Paschim Bardhaman district. The case has seen six men, one of them being her male friend, be arrested in connection to the case.

The police have also begun and tested the WhatsApp messages between the accused and the survivor, which retrieve some of the deleted data on their phones.

The case has elicited a wave of anger throughout the country, particularly among the student fraternities and women groups which are seeking justice.

The case has brought up significant issues in regard to the safety of women in other learning institutions beyond Odisha.

The survivor has been very strong despite the trauma. Her father said:

“My daughter is very strong. She would like to further her studies in the same college, but I fear that her security would be put at risk. Nevertheless, we shall not prevent her to follow her dreams.

Her medical board within the hospital confirmed that she is physically and mentally stable, and fit to be discharged after extensive tests were reviewed.

It is identified that after the identification parade, the family intends to take the student home to Odisha temporarily.

The father will visit CM Mohan Majhi to negotiate with him about potential educational and safety provisions in the state.

The police are still on a forensic search in the jungles where the act took place making more samples.

The security system of the Durgapur medical college is being reviewed.

OD MBBS student rape case is still under investigation. The survivor has inspired hope since the accused are in the custody of the police until the 22 nd of October.

The next meeting of her father with CM Mohan Mahaji will determine either she will stay on Durgapur or move to a medical college in Odisha.

The case again show that there is the pressing need to introduce tougher campus security measures and support systems to the students particularly women studying outside their home.
